This is a recording of the Reeks and the Wrecks final live performance. Dylan (aka Hamburger Chubbs) captured the evening on a midi recorder. You can hear Dylan and a handful of ex-Bellingham types engaging in illegal mind-melding behavior during the set. At this time Orion and Jason's band with Caroline, Spooky Dance Band, resided and performed regularly in Portland. Andy's visits south were becoming a bit more regular. These last Reeks shows were marked by an air of rarity and mystique. The Reeks had reached a sort of legendary status around Portland. Knife Hits was finished and going to the presses over at tUMULt. A quality moment in the Reeks' performance career.

Quaalude County Country Band, 2005
Slow Down the Hoe-down. QCCB held down Tuesday nights at the 3B from 2002-2005, and a Sunday stint at the Grand Ave Ale House before that. It began in the 90s in an attic on High Street. Tuesday's first set usually got started around 10:30 or 11, garnering an audience of only the minimally employed and chronically drunk. Between sets featured touring and local bands such as Drunk Horse, Bar Tabac, Juanita Family and Friends, High Tower, and so many that can't ever be recalled. Quaalude's second set was usually a mess though the brilliant moments shined even brighter at 1:30am. The sets featured rotating guests from local acts. QCCB performed country standards at glacial speed by Willie, Hank, Prine, Dylan, Ween, Beck, and Hedwig, as well as originals.
This recording session went down in Christian Danielson's living room in 2005. It was some sort of three way barter. Quaalude had previously played Christian and Angela's wedding. The recording was free. The painter Michael Costello sketched the session and created a huge, beautiful painting (also featuring the married couple) in exchange for some recording time for Michael.
The full session is 2 cdrs in length and features many of the songs that Quaalude Co. regularly featured at their Tuesday night residency at the 3B Tavern.
Kevin Wharton - bass, vocals
Spencer Willhoft - acoustic guitar, vocals
Ben Wildenhaus - lap steel, electric guitar
Jeff Gray - mandolin
Farrah Halsey - drums
